Skint Arsenal in shock swoop for Charlton midfield star Aribo on free transferMarch 25, 2019
ARSENAL are lining up a shock move for Charlton starlet Joe Aribo, according to reports.
The Gunners have had the 22-year-old watched a number of times this season.
And the Mirror claim the Premier League side have been impressed with what have seen of Aribo and believe he could make the step up to the top flight next season.
The left-footed midfielder has been the Addicks standout performer this term scoring six goals in 28 appearances as Lee Bowyer’s side push for promotion.
Aribo is out of contract at the end of the season allowing the Gunners to bag him on the cheap paying Charlton a small compensation fee due to his age.
The Addicks offered Aribo a new deal last summer to extend his stay at the Valley.
However, the club withdrew the offer and surprisingly offered fresh terms but on far less money.
The new deal has been rejected and with no agreement in sight, the midfielder looks to be heading out of south-east London.
Arsenal are no strangers to taking a punt on Charlton academy products.

They signed right-back Carl Jenkinson in 2011 for £1million.
But if Arsenal want Aribo, they could face competition from Eintracht Frankfurt and Benfica for his signature.
If Aribo does leave he will be desperate to sign off in style by taking Charlton back to the Championship via the play-offs.
