Chelsea tell star players including Eden Hazard that they will not be sold this yearMarch 25, 2019
CHELSEA have told their star players including Eden Hazard that they will NOT be sold this year amid the club’s crippling transfer ban.
Blues defender Andreas Christensen, 22, says he has been told the side are desperate to hold onto their current crop after being found guilty of breaching rules on overseas players under the age of 18.
Chelsea were “astonished” after Fifa ruled their transfer ban could not be delayed despite their appeal.
That has raised massive questions over the future of star man Hazard, who it was recently reported had signed a five-year Real Madrid deal worth £270,000-a-week.
But now Christensen, speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, says everyone will be staying put.
He said: “The messages we’ve got are that Chelsea can’t appeal the case and therefore want to keep all the players.
“The situation I have ended up in has been very difficult to accept.”
Hazard has denied reports his Bernabeu switch is sealed.
Speaking ahead of Belgium’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Cyprus, the winger reassured Chelsea fans he has not secured his move away from London – yet.
He said: “There’s nothing in the reports. I’m only focused on the game against Cyprus.
“That’s all I’m thinking about.”
