And their supporters have brought quite the atmosphere with them from Paris with the air filled with smoke from red flares.

Many were expecting Manchester United to tumble out as the team toiled under Jose Mourinho.

But since Solskjaer – who won the Champions League as a player in 1999 – took over the mood has lifted.

In addition, star man Neymar will miss both legs, while Edinson Cavani has been ruled out of this evening’s clash.

United are yet to lose under their caretaker boss, who has nine wins from 10 matches, but that record will be tested even without the superstar duo.

Solskjaer would do his reputation plenty of good if he can mastermind a famous victory over the French giants.
