Mako Vunipola to miss rest of Six Nations in huge blow to England’s Grand Slam bidFebruary 12, 2019
MAKO VUNIPOLA handed England a Six Nations hammer-blow as scans revealed he will be out until the end of April.
England will be without their influential prop when they head to Cardiff to take on Wales in a Grand Slam decider a week on Saturday.
And he will play no part in the rest of the Championship either as he needs 10 weeks rehab back at Saracens.
Red Rose boss Eddie Jones said: “It is obviously very disappointing to lose Mako at this stage as he is an important player for us but it does provide an opportunity for the team to grow.”
After coming off in the demolition of France Jones was optimistic that the news wouldn’t be too bad.
When asked about the injury at the end of the game, the Aussie joked: “I think he got a bit tired. I’m not sure. I think he’s eating the ice, rather than putting it on his ankle. Hopefully, it’s not too bad. We’ll just wait and see.”
Now either Ben Moon or Ellis Genge will start at the Millennium Stadium in the ultimate Anglo-Welsh grudge match.
