In the first episode of the Channel 4 programme, Penny was forced to face some past demons as she chased a threatening member of public down the street.

The Loose Women panellist, who is also married to Rod Stewart, ran after the suspected shoplifter who shockingly threatened to stab her with a dirty needle.

Viewers were quick to praise Penny’s bravery with one tweeting: “#FamousAndFightingCrime is absolutely brilliant. And well done Penny Lancaster on your amazing bravery.”

Another viewer responded: “Fair Play Penny Lancaster, you stepped up to the mark – well done,” and another added: “Bloody good work from Penny Lancaster, no baton or PARVA. And zero training.”.

Speaking to the Mail’s Weekend magazine earlier this month, Penny said: “It was terrifying.

“Mine was under the influence. She looked like I imagine a druggie would look, almost like a rabid animal. You want to help a rabid animal but you don’t want to get bitten.

“When she said she was going to stab me, there was that pause, as if I was playing Fortnite with my kids, like I was in charge of a video game console.

“I said: ‘You want to stab me?’ and she said: ‘With my needle. I’ll stab you with my needle.’ I was aware of how vulnerable I was. I was unarmed.

She went on: “I had to keep saying: ‘Stop! You’re making it worse for yourself,’ while calling in my location on my radio.
