Keown says Arsenal letting Ramsey go is ‘staggering’ in stunning attack on former club – as club seek £18m from Juventus if he leaves this monthJanuary 12, 2019
MARTIN KEOWN has said it’s “staggering” Arsenal are allowed Aaron Ramsey to leave the club for absolutely nothing in the summer.
The former Gunners defender, 52, is shocked Unai Emery is willing to allow a once key member of the squad leave for nothing.
And Keown told the Mail: “If Arsenal are admitting they are only able to sign loan players, then it’s staggering they are happy to let one of their prized assets leave for nothing.
“Juventus looks the most likely destination for Aaron Ramsey when his contract runs out at the end of the season.
“The Italian champions must be rubbing their hands together.
“Ramsey has conducted himself with great dignity this season but it’s astonishing Arsenal, a powerhouse in the English game, could not put together a package to keep him.”
The 58-cap Wales star, 28, appears most likely to join Juventus in the summer – with Arsenal are said to be willing to let him leave this month… for £18million.
Reports in Italy claim the Serie A champions are keen to bring Ramsey to Turin sooner rather than later.
Now Gazzetta dello Sport believe with the Arsenal’s permission Ramsey could undergo a medical in Italy next week ahead of signing a five-year deal.
