PEP Guardiola should have Sergio Aguero back for the Wolves game on Monday – but he has raised concerns about Jesus missing his mum.

The Manchester City forward was struck down with flu after the thrilling win over Liverpool at the Etihad a week ago.

It meant he had to sit out the cup double against Rotherham and Burton – with Gabriel Jesus scoring five times in his absence.

But Aguero returned to training on Thursday and looks certain to be back in contention for the visit of Nuno Esporito Santo’s men.

Boss Pep Guardiola said: “Sergio was sick after the game against Liverpool, Thursday was the first training session.

“Vincent Kompany is recovering well after the game against Liverpool, he’s getting better. The rest are OK. I hope they’ll be OK for Monday.”

Meanwhile Guardiola has told Jesus he must deal with the departure of his mother and brothers following their stay over Christmas in Manchester.

The Brazilian admits their visit has helped him recover his form – scoring seven in four starts while they have been here.

Now they have headed back to South America and Guardiola says the club will support him – but he has to handle it.

Pep said: “The players know they are in an incredible club who try to take care of all of us, all the people working in this organisation.

“The private life is the private life and if they need something we are there. We are there to help.

“But of course, we cannot substitute the mother and when the family can’t be there, it’s difficult.

“They have to handle the situation and of course he is not alone, he has friends.

“He has incredible relationship with the Brazilian guys, like Danilo, Fernandinho, Bernardo, many, many players here.

“I think it won’t be a problem for the next months. When we are happy in our lives, we are better in our jobs.”

Guardiola said they will keep an eye on the young forward and make sure he is not affected by his home life.

He said: “Sometimes we will judge the players and sometimes we really don’t know what is happening in their private lives and it is a big influence, week by week or game by game.

“You have to try to help them by doing all you can do, and tell them we are here.

“So any time when you have any problems it can happen, we are going to try and help. In the case of Gabriel, it’s like this.

“Beyond that I don’t know what we should do.”
