Arsenal won’t be able to cope with West Ham trio Carroll, Arnautovic and Anderson, warns Paul MersonJanuary 12, 2019
ARSENAL legend Paul Merson believes his former club won’t be able to deal with West Ham’s attacking trio.
Unai Emery’s side has shipped in 31 goals this season – 21 more than Liverpool including 16 in the entirety of December.
And Merson believes their defensive frailties means it is likely to make an exciting clash.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Arsenal struggle to stop goals going in and West Ham’s best form of defence is attack,
“I don’t know how Arsenal will cope with the likes of Carroll, Arnautovic and Anderson, but the Gunners are good going forward so it makes for an entertaining game.”
Carroll’s wait for a goal ended last weekend in the FA Cup victory over Birmingham City.
Arnie and Anderson have been in terrific form for the majority of the season with 15 league goals between them.
Arsenal head into the contest welcoming back a number of defenders who have spent the New Year on the treatment table.
Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi and Nacho Monreal are all fit and in contention.
