I don’t fancy my partner any more but feel guilty ending relationshipDecember 7, 2018
DEAR DEIDRE: I JUST don’t fancy my partner any more – especially now I have met someone else.
But dumping her would be cruel.
At 54, my partner is 12 years older than me – and this other woman is gorgeous and the same age as me.
My partner is a lovely person but has lived a lot, as they say, and very much looks her age.
We have been together for ten years. She was great to me when we met and helped me back on my feet when I was in a bad way due to drink and drug abuse.
I’ve been clean for seven years now.
But I haven’t wanted sex with her for more than two years.
I adore this new woman I have met but I’m consumed with guilt over it.
I want to move on but I feel guilty about it after all my partner has done for me.
DEIDRE SAYS: The trouble is gratitude alone can’t sustain a relationship.
If you don’t desire your partner, she will be sensing this and will be unhappy too.

Best be honest with her that she has been a wonderful part of your life story but the relationship has run its course.
It’s better that than ending up cheating on her.
