Marcos Alonso admits Chelsea could be out of title race if they lose against Man City this weekendDecember 6, 2018
MARCOS ALONSO admits Chelsea could be out of the title race entirely if they lose to Manchester City on Saturday.
Maurizio Sarri’s side suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Wolves last night – with Alonso coming in for particular criticism from Blues supporters.
Fans blasted him for being “woeful” and a “liability” as goals from Raul Jimenez and Diojo Jota secured a shock win for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Guardiola’s side overcame a spirited Watford 2-1 to sit two points clear of Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Burnley 3-1.
And Alonso is certain that Chelsea – currently ten points behind the league leaders and showing too much confidence according to Sarri – will be battling it out for a top four spot only if they lose to City.
He said: “If we lose we are going to be 13 points from the top and that’s a lot of points.

“But we have to think, prepare for the game and not pay attention to the table at the moment.
“We have to play more as a team. It’s something we have to analyse. We will try our best to improve as soon as possible.”
And Alonso admitted Chelsea are in a slump with just four points from their past four games.
He said: “We’re not doing very well at the moment. We have to get better as a collective.
“The last few games we were not loyal to our style of play and, maybe [even] if we didn’t deserve, we lose.
“We are going through a hard moment and you have to work very hard, stay together and get back to winning as soon as possible.”
