A colleague I really like keeps insisting I kiss him but I don’t know if I shouldDecember 4, 2018
DEAR DEIDRE: A FRIEND at work makes it obvious he likes me. I do like him too but he is always so full-on.
I’m a shy person and have never had a boyfriend. I find it hard talking to guys when I go out but it’s easy talking with this friend at work.
He is 27 and I’m 25. Most days he comes up and hugs me or says I smell nice or kisses my forehead. Last week he put his arms around me and asked for a kiss on the lips.
I was a bit taken aback, so I said: “No, not here, where everyone can see.”
I do really like him, though, and I wish now that I had let him kiss me.
DEIDRE SAYS: It was right to fend him off in public at work – that would have been inappropriate.

If you are sure he is single and not just a flirt, suggest going for a drink or seeing a film together.
It will give you the chance to see whether something could develop away from the watchful eye of your colleagues.
You will also have a chance to tell him that if you are going to form a relationship, it will have to be at a steadier pace.
