Arsenal news: Danny Welbeck rushed to hospital with serious ankle injury picked up in Sporting Lisbon clashNovember 9, 2018
DANNY WELBECK has been rushed to hospital with a serious ankle injury sustained in Thursday night’s match with Sporting Lisbon.
The England international was stretchered off the pitch during the 0-0 Europa League clash at the Emirates.
Welbeck looked in a world of agony as he rolled his ankle on the turf.
And he required oxygen on the field before being rushed off the pitch.
The incident happened during the first half of the European clash.
Teammates including Matteo Guendouzi had their heads in their hands as the extent of the injury became clearer.

Reflecting on the horror injury, boss Unai Emery said: “We are all thinking of Danny, we think it is a serious injury. It is clear we are with him in this moment.
“He was working hard and playing well and had already had one chance at goal. I haven’t spoken to him, he has gone to hospital and now we wait.
“But it is a serious injury. It is a break to something in the ankle, a difficult injury. The injury is very bad for him, very bad for us and for all who love Danny and his character.
“It is not the moment to think about the contract. It is the moment to think about Danny. It is a difficult problem for him and the club.”
Welbeck is now in hospital awaiting treatment, just hours after being called up to Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.
And boss Emery is hoping his back-up striker will be available in the new year as Arsenal look to continue their potential title challenge.
The injury could not come at a worse time for Welbeck, who is out of contract at the end of the season and is keen to stay put in North London.
Crystal Palace are interested in bringing him to Selhurst Park in January, but Roy Hodgson may have to look elsewhere if Welbeck is ruled out for a lengthy period of time.
