Writing emails is a struggle with my dyslexia but I’m too scared to tell my bossOctober 31, 2018
DEAR DEIDRE: I LOVE my admin job but I struggle with communication, so speaking on the phone or face to face, writing letters and emails is frustrating.
Throughout my two years in this job I have battled with dyslexia. I am 24.
Often I have to rewrite emails and letters, which is upsetting, and am often told my work is incorrect or that I need to improve my skills.
I can’t tell my boss, as I worry that will make things worse. I want to improve on my own but I can’t find online courses for dyslexics to boost workplace skills.

DEIDRE SAYS: You are being unfair on yourself by not speaking up about your dyslexia.
It is a legally recognised disability and employers must adjust to accommodate this.
Being reprimanded for mistakes is damaging your confidence.
Contact the British Dyslexia Association (bdadyslexia.org.uk, 0333 405 4567) then talk to your boss.
