I’m devastated after my partner said she wants to be buried next to her exOctober 31, 2018
DEAR DEIDRE: MY partner of 20 years plans to be buried alongside her former husband. I’m gutted.
She is 69 and I’m 70. She has three sons but they rarely visit. She and her ex divorced before we met. He died six months ago, leaving a partner we don’t know.
One of her sons took care of the funeral arrangements but asked his mother to check the lettering on the headstone. I went along and noticed the design looked a bit top-heavy.
She replied: “Space has been left for me when I go.”
Her sons seem to make all the decisions – yet I am the one who loves and cares for her. Should I accept being second-best or should I end our relationship?
DEIDRE SAYS: Did your partner actually request this, or is it that her sons are in denial about their parents’ marriage ending?
